Alderkill Reunion Website!
Camp Alderkill land is recorded on the Frank Teal papers to have been purchased in 1945. Alderkill was a camp for boys and girls ranging in age from five thru fourteen. It was located on 135 acres of fields, meadows , and woodland, ninety miles north of New York City in Dutchess County (As advertised in the Sunday N.Y. Times). Enrollment consisted of campers, the children up to ten are called the bunkhouse and those up to fourteen consisted of the Hill group. "The name "Alderkill" comes from "Landsman Kill" which is the stream running through our camp land, and from the Black Alder which grows in profusion along it's edges." Margaret Treadwell
